Vaiśampāyana said: Even the women—broad-hipped, beautiful in form, with full breasts and lovely eyes—moved with a gait unsteady from the intoxication of youth, and began to sport about freely as they pleased. The verse paints a social scene of carefree revelry, hinting at how sensual exhilaration can loosen restraint and decorum.

Educational Q&A

The verse implicitly contrasts youthful exhilaration with self-restraint: when 'mada' (intoxicating pride/inebriation) rises, bodily control and social decorum can loosen, suggesting the ethical need for moderation and awareness.

Vaiśampāyana describes a festive or pleasure-filled atmosphere in which beautiful women, buoyed by youthful intoxication, walk with a slightly unsteady gait and engage in playful amusements as they wish.
