Śārṅgakānāṃ Avināśaḥ (Why the Śārṅga Birds Were Spared) | शार्ङ्गकानामविनाशः

एते चान्ये च बहवो वृष्णिभोजान्धकास्तथा । आजम्मु: खाण्डवप्रस्थमादाय हरणं बहु,सत्यक, सात्यकि, सात्वतवंशी कृतवर्मा, प्रद्युम्मन, साम्ब, निशठ, शंकु, पराक्रमी चारुदेष्ण, झिल्ली, विपृथु, महाबाहु सारण तथा दिद्वानोंमें श्रेष्ठ गद--ये तथा और दूसरे भी बहुत-से वृष्णि, भोज और अन्धकवंशके लोग दहेजकी बहुत-सी सामग्री लेकर खाण्डवप्रस्थमें आये थे

ete cānye ca bahavo vṛṣṇibhojāndhakās tathā | ājagmuḥ khāṇḍavaprastham ādāya haraṇaṃ bahu ||

Vaiśampāyana said: Many others too—men of the Vṛṣṇi, Bhoja, and Andhaka lineages—arrived at Khāṇḍavaprastha, bringing abundant bridal gifts and valuables. The scene is framed by the ethics of kinship and alliance: a public, generous transfer of wealth proclaims a marriage sanctioned by society, strengthens bonds between houses, and affirms dharma through orderly, witnessed custom rather than coercion.
