Vaiśampāyana said: “And that heroic one did not, in any way, let his mind turn toward us. The great-souled, radiant brāhmaṇa remained established in pure austerity; he was not shaken from it even in the slightest.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights ethical self-mastery: a person established in pure tapas does not allow the mind to be pulled by external influences and remains unshaken, modeling restraint and inner steadiness as a form of dharma.
Vaiśampāyana describes an ascetic brāhmaṇa (spoken of as a heroic, radiant figure) who refuses to let his attention turn toward the onlookers/approachers and continues his austere practice without the slightest disturbance.
