समन्तपञ्चक-आख्यानम् तथा अक्षौहिणी-प्रमाणनिर्णयः

Samantapañcaka Narrative and the Measure of an Akṣauhiṇī

यज्ञे विभूतिं तां दृष्टवा दुःखामर्षान्वितस्य च | दुर्योधनस्यावहासो भीमेन च सभातले,यज्ञमें पाण्डवोंका यह वैभव देखकर दुर्योधन दुःख और ईरष्यासे मन-ही-मनमें जलने लगा। इसी प्रसंगमें सभाभवनके सामने समतल भूमिपर भीमसेनने उसका उपहास किया

yajñe vibhūtiṁ tāṁ dṛṣṭvā duḥkhāmarṣānvitasyaca | duryodhanasyāvahāso bhīmena ca sabhātale ||

Seeing the Pandavas’ splendid prosperity displayed at the sacrifice, Duryodhana was inwardly consumed by grief and jealous resentment. In that very context, on the level ground before the assembly-hall, Bhimasena mocked him—an incident that deepened hostility and foreshadowed an ethical collapse driven by envy and wounded pride.
