अन्तरे चैव सम्प्राप्ते कलिद्वापरयोरभूत् । समन्तपज्चके युद्ध कुरुपाण्डवसेनयो:,जब कलियुग और द्वापरकी सन्धिका समय आया, तब उसी समन्तपंचवक्षेत्रमें कौरवों और पाण्डवोंकी सेनाओंका परस्पर भीषण युद्ध हुआ
antare caiva samprāpte kali-dvāparayor abhūt | samantapañcake yuddhaṁ kuru-pāṇḍava-senayoḥ ||
When the transitional juncture between the Dvāpara and Kali ages arrived, a fierce mutual battle took place at Samantapañcaka between the armies of the Kurus and the Pāṇḍavas—an event that marks the moral turning-point of the age, where the decline of dharma becomes visible through fratricidal war.
राम उवाच
The verse frames the Kurukṣetra conflict as occurring at a yuga-junction, implying that large-scale violence and the breakdown of kinship duties are symptoms of dharma’s weakening as the world moves toward Kali-yuga.
