Intelligence Reports and the Kaurava Court’s Response

kṛtaṃ hi tat syāt sukṛtaṃ mamedaṃ yaśaś ca puṇyaṃ ca hitaṃ tad etat |

If that wish of mine is fulfilled, I would regard it as the true fruition of my good deeds. For me, this alone would become fame, merit, and genuine benefit—an outcome aligned with what is right and auspicious.

Educational Q&A

The verse links the fulfillment of a righteous intention with the fruition of past merit: true success is measured not merely by attainment, but by whether it yields yaśas (honorable reputation), puṇya (moral/spiritual merit), and hita (genuine welfare).

Dhṛṣṭadyumna speaks of a personal resolve or desired outcome, stating that if it is achieved he will consider it the result of his virtuous deeds, bringing him honor, merit, and benefit.
