Vaiśampāyana said: Thus addressed and having clearly understood the matter, the prince reported it to his father. Dhṛṣṭadyumna, lord of the Somakas, recounted in full what had occurred there and by whom Kṛṣṇā (Draupadī) had been taken away—setting the scene for Drupada to respond in accordance with royal duty and dharma.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights a dharmic norm of governance and family conduct: before acting, a king should obtain a clear, reliable account of events. Responsible speech (accurate reporting) and informed decision-making are presented as ethical prerequisites for royal action.
Dhṛṣṭadyumna, after being prompted, goes to his father Drupada and narrates the full sequence of events—what occurred and who took Kṛṣṇā (Draupadī). This report prepares Drupada to send a priest/representative and engage the Pāṇḍavas appropriately.
