कान्यकुब्जे महानासीत् पार्थिवो भरतर्षभ । गाधीति विश्रुतो लोके कुशिकस्यात्मसम्भव:,भरतवंशशिरोमणे! कान्यकुब्ज देशमें एक बहुत बड़े राजा थे, जो इस लोकमें गाधिके नामसे विख्यात थे। वे कुशिकके औरस पुत्र बताये जाते हैं
kānyakubje mahān āsīt pārthivo bharatarṣabha | gādhīti viśruto loke kuśikasyātmasambhavaḥ ||
The Gandharva said: “O bull among the Bharatas, in Kānyakubja there once ruled a mighty king, renowned in the world by the name Gādhi. He was born as the true son of Kuśika.”
गन्धर्व उवाच
The verse highlights that social authority and renown are rooted in lineage and inherited duty: a king’s greatness is presented not merely as personal achievement but as continuity of ancestral dharma.
A Gandharva introduces a key figure in the genealogy: King Gādhi of Kānyakubja, identifying him as the true-born son of Kuśika, thereby setting up the background for subsequent events connected to this line.
