Educational Q&A

The verse highlights dharma in the form of reverence and gratitude toward elders and teachers, and the ethical duty of faithful transmission—recounting a received tradition accurately, without distortion.

At the Naimiṣa forest gathering, Śaunaka addresses the narrator (Sauti), recalling how Sauti’s father served the sages and narrated the story; Śaunaka requests Sauti to retell the same account in the same manner.
