मन्दर-समुद्रमन्थन-वर्णनम् / Description of the Churning of the Ocean with Mount Mandara
विशिष्ट बलमीप्सन्त्या पञ्चवर्षशतात् पर: । “इसलिये यदि तू इस बालकको विशेष बलवान बनाना चाहती है तो पाँच सौ वर्षके बादतक तुझे धैर्य धारण करके इसके जन्मकी प्रतीक्षा करनी चाहिये"
viśiṣṭa balam īpsantyā pañcavarṣaśatāt paraḥ |
Śaunaka said: “If you desire a son endowed with exceptional strength, then you must patiently endure and wait for his birth even after five hundred years.”
शौनक उवाच
The verse highlights dhairya—patient endurance—as a dharmic virtue: extraordinary strength or excellence is not obtained instantly but through long waiting, discipline, and acceptance of time’s demands.
Śaunaka addresses a woman who seeks an exceptionally powerful child, stating that such a boon requires waiting as long as five hundred years, emphasizing the magnitude of the desired outcome and the need for steadfast resolve.
