Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the dharmic value of śuśrūṣā—reverent, attentive listening to sacred history from a qualified narrator. Ethical understanding is presented as something cultivated through humble inquiry and sustained hearing.

At the sages’ gathering, Śaunaka addresses Sauti and asks him to retell, in greater detail, the account of the noble sage Āstīka, indicating the listeners’ strong eagerness to hear that episode.
