वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical and political importance of proper provision and outward decorum in royal affairs—arranging dignified comforts for the Pāṇḍavas so that elders are satisfied, reflecting duty (dharma) expressed through respectful hospitality and careful counsel.
In the Adi Parva’s Varṇāvata-related planning, instructions are being given to prepare excellent accommodations—seats, vehicles, and beds—for the Pāṇḍavas, with the stated aim of pleasing the speaker’s father and maintaining an appearance of propriety.
