Ādi-parva Adhyāya 132 — Duryodhana’s Instructions to Purocana at Vāraṇāvata

Lākṣāgṛha Planning

Vaiśampāyana uvāca: te tam ājñāya tattvena punar āgamya pāṇḍavāḥ | yathāvṛttaṃ vane sarvaṃ droṇāyācakhyur adbhutam ||

Vaiśampāyana said: Having truly understood who that Niṣāda was, the Pāṇḍavas returned. They then related to Droṇa, in full, the wondrous event that had occurred in the forest—reporting it exactly as it happened, with no concealment or distortion.

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights ethical fidelity to truth in narration: after verifying a person’s identity and the facts of an event, one should report the matter accurately (tattvena, yathāvṛttam), especially to a teacher or authority responsible for guidance.

The Pāṇḍavas have encountered a Niṣāda in the forest, learned his true identity, returned, and then told their teacher Droṇa the entire extraordinary incident exactly as it occurred.
