In the same manner, the townspeople and the folk from the surrounding countryside bowed with their heads to the ground. Having offered respectful salutations and obeisance, they all sat down nearby.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights dhārmic conduct in public life: showing humility and due respect through formal salutations and prostration, and then taking one’s proper place—an ethic that sustains social harmony and acknowledges legitimate authority or venerable persons.
After others have acted similarly, the citizens and people from the surrounding districts also bow with their heads to the ground, offer greetings and obeisance, and then sit down nearby, forming an attentive assembly around the central figures.
