Āstravidyā-Pradarśana: The Kuru Princes’ Public Demonstration of Arms (आस्त्रविद्या-प्रदर्शनम्)
न मे$स्ति त्वयि संतापो विगुणे5पि परंतप । नावरत्वे वरार्हाया: स्थित्वा चानघ नित्यदा,'शत्रुओंको संताप देनेवाले निष्पाप कुरुनन्दन! आप संतान उत्पन्न करनेकी शक्तिसे रहित हो गये, आपकी इस न्यूनता या दुर्बलताको लेकर मेरे मनमें कोई संताप नहीं है। यद्यपि मैं सदा कुन्तीदेवीकी अपेक्षा श्रेष्ठ होनेके कारण पटरानीके पदपर बैठनेकी अधिकारिणी थी, तो भी जो सदा मुझे छोटी बनकर रहना पड़ता है, इसके लिये भी मुझे कोई दुःख नहीं है। राजन! गान्धारी तथा राजा धृतराष्ट्रके जो सौ पुत्र हुए हैं, वह समाचार सुनकर भी मुझे वैसा दुःख नहीं हुआ था
na me 'sti tvayi santāpo viguṇe 'pi parantapa | nāvaratve varārhyāḥ sthitvā cānagha nityadā ||
Vaiśampāyana said: “O scorcher of foes, I feel no anguish on your account even though you are deficient (in the power to beget offspring). Nor, O sinless one, do I grieve that—though I was worthy of the status of chief queen—I must always remain in a subordinate position. Even when I heard that Gāndhārī and King Dhṛtarāṣṭra had a hundred sons, I did not feel such sorrow.”
