daśavarṣasahasrāṇi samādhistho 'bhavatprabhuḥ adhomukhaṃ tu yatpadmaṃ hṛdi saṃsthaṃ suśobhanam
For ten thousand years the Lord remained absorbed in samādhi. Within the heart there was a splendid lotus, turned downward, abiding there in radiant beauty.
Suta Goswami (narrating to the sages of Naimisharanya)
It points the devotee from outer worship to inner realization: the true Linga is contemplated in samādhi as the radiant presence of Pati within the heart-lotus.
Shiva is shown as the timeless Lord (Pati) who can remain established in pure samādhi beyond ordinary duration, indicating transcendence over māyā and bondage (pāśa).
Dhyāna leading to samādhi on the heart-lotus—an inner Pāśupata-oriented contemplation where the pashu (soul) turns inward to the indwelling Lord.
