When the Sun, Saturn, and the Moon are situated in the tenth house, and the remaining planets in the eleventh, then—if Mercury is in the twelfth—Venus indeed becomes a giver of happiness.

Lord Vishnu (addressing Garuda)

Concept: Public action (10th) and gains (11th) are shaped by graha distribution; 12th-house placement can transmute enjoyment into sukha when moderated—Venus as refined happiness rather than excess.

Vedantic Theme: Karma-yoga balance: engagement (pravṛtti) and withdrawal (nivṛtti) both serve inner purification when guided by discernment.

Application: Pursue duty and reputation (10th) ethically; manage networks and income (11th) responsibly; use 12th-house themes for charity, sleep hygiene, retreats, and controlled pleasures—turning Venusian desire into contentment.

Primary Rasa: shanta

Secondary Rasa: adbhuta

FAQs

This verse presents a specific Jyotiṣa placement-pattern and states its result: under these placements, Venus (Bhārgava) functions as a giver of happiness (sukha-da), indicating an auspicious outcome.

This particular verse does not describe the soul’s post-death journey; instead, it belongs to an astrology-focused section, linking planetary placements with results experienced in embodied life.

Use it as a traditional reference for interpreting planetary placements (especially Venus and Mercury) in chart analysis, while prioritizing dharma-based conduct since the Purana consistently frames well-being as supported by ethical living.
