sūta uvāca sa evam ṛṣi-varyo ’yaṁ pṛṣṭo rājñā parīkṣitā pratyāha taṁ subahu-vit prītātmā śrūyatām iti
Śrī Sūta Gosvāmī said: Thus questioned by King Parīkṣit, the foremost sage Śukadeva Gosvāmī—most learned and pleased at heart—replied, “Now hear with attentive devotion.”
This verse highlights the sacred method of śravaṇam—Śukadeva invites Parīkṣit to “please hear,” indicating that attentive hearing of Bhagavata-kathā is central to spiritual realization.
Because Parīkṣit’s sincere inquiry into transcendental truth pleased the sage; genuine questions about the Lord naturally delight realized teachers and invite deeper instruction.
Adopt the mood of “please hear” by setting aside regular time to listen to or study Srimad Bhagavatam with attention, humility, and a desire to understand and practice bhakti.
