Having spoken thus, the Aśvinī-kumāras took hold of Cyavana Muni—his body afflicted by old age, with slack skin, white hair, wrinkles, and veins standing out—and all three entered the lake.
Cyavana Muni was so old that he could not enter the lake alone. Thus the Aśvinī-kumāras caught hold of his body, and the three of them entered the lake.
This verse depicts the Aśvinī-kumāras personally assisting the aged sage by leading him into a sacred lake, highlighting their role as celestial physicians who restore health and vitality by divine power.
In this chapter’s narrative, the Aśvins help the sage who had become worn by old age; entering the lake is part of the rejuvenation process they perform for him.
It encourages humility about aging and faith that sincere devotion and divine support can transform even difficult conditions, while also honoring genuine service rendered to saints and devotees.
