तस्मै संव्यभजत् सोऽन्नमादृत्य श्रद्धयान्वित: । हरिं सर्वत्र संपश्यन् स भुक्त्वा प्रययौ द्विज: ॥ ६ ॥
tasmai saṁvyabhajat so ’nnam ādṛtya śraddhayānvitaḥ hariṁ sarvatra saṁpaśyan sa bhuktvā prayayau dvijaḥ
Seeing Hari, the Supreme Lord, present everywhere and within every being, Rantideva welcomed the guest with faith and reverence and gave him a share of the food. The brāhmaṇa ate his portion and then departed.
Rantideva perceived the presence of the Supreme Personality of Godhead in every living being, but he never thought that because the Supreme Lord is present in every living being, every living being must be God. Nor did he distinguish between one living being and another. He perceived the presence of the Lord both in the brāhmaṇa and in the caṇḍāla. This is the true vision of equality, as confirmed by the Lord Himself in Bhagavad-gītā (5.18) :
This verse highlights the devotee’s vision of God’s presence in all places and beings—seeing Hari everywhere while acting with faith and reverence.
In the narrative, Rantideva embodies dharma and devotion by honoring guests and giving even his own share with श्रद्धा (faith) and आदर (respect).
Serve others respectfully and with faith—especially those in need—while cultivating the awareness that the Lord is present in everyone.
