The Dynasty of Vaivasvata Manu Begins — Ilā/Sudyumna and the Birth of Purūravā
तस्योत्कलो गयो राजन् विमलश्च त्रय: सुता: । दक्षिणापथराजानो बभूवुर्धर्मवत्सला: ॥ ४१ ॥
tasyotkalo gayo rājan vimalaś ca trayaḥ sutāḥ dakṣiṇā-patha-rājāno babhūvur dharma-vatsalāḥ
O King, Sudyumna had three very pious sons—Utkala, Gaya, and Vimala—who became kings of the Dakṣiṇā-patha, devoted to dharma.
They are described here as the three sons of a king in the dynasty narration, who later became rulers of Dakṣiṇāpatha and were devoted to dharma.
This verse highlights that exemplary rulers are 'dharma-vatsala'—they govern with love for righteousness, protecting society through moral and religious principles.
Whether leading a family, team, or community, one should prioritize integrity, fairness, and responsibility—placing duty and ethical conduct above personal gain.
