Parīkṣit’s Final Absorption, Takṣaka’s Bite, Janamejaya’s Snake Sacrifice, and the Vedic Sound-Lineage
परीक्षिदपि राजर्षिरात्मन्यात्मानमात्मना । समाधाय परं दध्यावस्पन्दासुर्यथा तरु: ॥ ९ ॥ प्राक्कूले बर्हिष्यासीनो गङ्गाकूल उदङ्मुख: । ब्रह्मभूतो महायोगी नि:सङ्गश्छिन्नसंशय: ॥ १० ॥
parīkṣid api rājarṣir ātmany ātmānam ātmanā samādhāya paraṁ dadhyāv aspandāsur yathā taruḥ
Then Mahārāja Parīkṣit, by pure intelligence, settled his mind within the spiritual self and meditated upon the Supreme Absolute Truth; the movement of his life air ceased, and he became motionless like a tree.
It describes King Parīkṣit fixing his consciousness within the Self and meditating on the Supreme with complete steadiness, showing that undistracted remembrance of the Lord is the perfected state.
To emphasize his unwavering concentration—free from fear, agitation, and bodily distraction—fully absorbed in meditation on the Supreme Lord.
