The Earth Laughs at World-Conquering Kings; Yuga-Dharma and the Remedy for Kali
पुंसां कलिकृतान् दोषान् द्रव्यदेशात्मसम्भवान् । सर्वान् हरति चित्तस्थो भगवान् पुरुषोत्तम: ॥ ४५ ॥
puṁsāṁ kali-kṛtān doṣān dravya-deśātma-sambhavān sarvān harati citta-stho bhagavān puruṣottamaḥ
In Kali-yuga, objects, places, and even persons are tainted by Kali’s faults. Yet the almighty Lord Puruṣottama, dwelling within the mind, removes all such contamination from one who fixes the Lord in the heart.
This verse states that the Supreme Lord, when present within the heart, removes all defects caused by Kali-yuga, including those rooted in possessions, environment, and bodily identification.
In the context of describing Kali-yuga and its problems, Śukadeva highlights the inner remedy: the Supreme Lord as the indwelling guide (within the heart) purifies the devotee from the age’s contaminations.
Cultivate steady remembrance and devotion so the Lord becomes “situated in the heart”—practically through sincere bhakti practices like hearing, chanting, and mindful living—reducing anxiety and faults tied to materialism, toxic environments, and ego-based identity.
