गोविन्दं गृहमानीय देवदेवेशमादृत: । पूजायां नाविदत्कृत्यं प्रमोदोपहतो नृप: ॥ ३९ ॥
govindaṁ gṛham ānīya deva-deveśam ādṛtaḥ pūjāyāṁ nāvidat kṛtyaṁ pramodopahato nṛpaḥ
King Yudhiṣṭhira respectfully brought Lord Govinda, the God of gods, into his private quarters. Overwhelmed with joy, the King could not recall all the proper rites of worship.
Śrīla Prabhupāda writes: “As he brought Kṛṣṇa within the palace, King Yudhiṣṭhira became so confused in his jubilation that he practically forgot what he was to do at that time in order to receive Kṛṣṇa and worship Him properly.”
This verse shows that intense devotional joy can make even a righteous king forget formalities—highlighting that heartfelt reverence for Govinda is central to worship.
Because he recognized Krishna as Devadeveśa, the Supreme Lord, and the sheer happiness and awe of His presence overpowered him, making him momentarily unsure of proper ceremonial actions.
Approach worship with sincere respect and humility; even if one lacks perfect ritual knowledge, genuine devotion and honoring the Lord wholeheartedly remain essential.
