श्रीशुक उवाच इत्युदीरितमाकर्ण्य देवर्षेरुद्धवोऽब्रवीत् । सभ्यानां मतमाज्ञाय कृष्णस्य च महामति: ॥ १ ॥

Transliteration

śrī-śuka uvāca ity udīritam ākarṇya devaṛṣer uddhavo ’bravīt sabhyānāṁ matam ājñāya kṛṣṇasya ca mahā-matiḥ

Translation

Śukadeva Gosvāmī said: Having thus heard Devarṣi Nārada’s words, and understanding both the assembly’s view and Lord Kṛṣṇa’s intention, the great-minded Uddhava began to speak.
