My Lord, one who is blessed by even a slight trace of mercy from Your two lotus feet can know the truth of Your greatness. But those who try to grasp the Supreme Personality by speculation cannot know You, even if they study the Vedas for many years.
This translation is quoted from Śrīla Prabhupāda’s Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā, Chapter Six, text 84.
This verse says Krishna’s greatness is known only by one who receives even a trace of mercy from His lotus feet; prolonged speculation alone cannot reveal Him.
After being humbled by Krishna’s Vraja-līlā and his own inability to measure the Lord, Brahmā admits that realization depends on divine grace, not intellectual effort.
Prioritize sincere devotion—prayer, humble service, and hearing about Krishna—rather than relying only on argument or analysis to access spiritual understanding.
