अध्वर्युणात्तहविषा यजमानो विशाम्पते । धिया विशुद्धया दध्यौ तथा प्रादुरभूद्धरि: ॥ १८ ॥
adhvaryuṇātta-haviṣā yajamāno viśāmpate dhiyā viśuddhayā dadhyau tathā prādurabhūd dhariḥ
O lord of the people, as soon as King Dakṣa, the yajamāna, offered the clarified butter taken up by the adhvaryu with Yajur mantras, in purified meditation, Hari appeared there in His original form as Nārāyaṇa.
Lord Viṣṇu is all-pervading. Any devotee who, in sanctified meditation, following the regulative principles, chants the required mantras in service and in a devotional mood can see Viṣṇu. It is said in the Brahma-saṁhitā that a devotee whose eyes are anointed with the ointment of love of Godhead can see the Supreme Personality of Godhead always within his heart. Lord Śyāmasundara is so kind to His devotee.
This verse states that when the sacrifice was properly offered and the sacrificer meditated with a purified mind, Lord Hari personally manifested—showing that devotion and inner purity are central to true yajña.
In the narrative of Dakṣa’s sacrifice, after the ritual proceeded and Dakṣa’s consciousness became purified, Hari appeared to restore order and bestow divine presence, indicating that the goal of sacrifice is ultimately the Supreme Lord.
Approach worship and daily duties with sincerity, humility, and mental cleanliness—through prayer, mantra, and ethical living—so actions become offerings and the heart becomes fit for divine remembrance.
