O Vidura (kṣattā), I have spoken all that you asked. The dialogue of Nārada and the Pracetās—Hari-kīrtana describing the Lord’s glories—I have related as far as I was able.
Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam describes the glories of the Lord and His devotees. Because the whole subject matter is the glorification of the Lord, naturally the glorification of His devotees automatically follows.
In this verse, Hari-kīrtana refers to the glorification of Lord Hari through sacred narration—here, the dialogue of Nārada and the Pracetās—meant to awaken devotion and purify the heart.
Maitreya calls Vidura ‘Kṣattā’ because Vidura was known by that title (royal counselor/minister). The address highlights Vidura’s sincere inquiry and qualification to hear spiritual topics.
Seek and hear bona fide spiritual discussions centered on Hari—through reading, listening to discourses, and chanting—because such Hari-kīrtana-focused hearing is presented as spiritually transformative.
