भविता विश्रुत: पुत्रोऽनवमो ब्रह्मणो गुणै: । य एतामात्मवीर्येण त्रिलोकीं पूरयिष्यति ॥ १२ ॥
bhavitā viśrutaḥ putro ’navamo brahmaṇo guṇaiḥ ya etām ātma-vīryeṇa tri-lokīṁ pūrayiṣyati
You will have a renowned son, in no way inferior to Lord Brahmā in virtue; by his own spiritual prowess he will fill the three worlds, and his descendants will spread throughout the triloka.
As explained in the next verse, the Pracetās will marry the daughter of the great sage Kaṇḍu. It is suggested that the son’s name will be Viśruta and that he will glorify both his father and mother because of his good character. In fact, he would be greater than Lord Brahmā. The great politician Cāṇakya said, “If there is a good tree within a garden or forest, its flowers will fill the forest with their fragrance. Similarly, a good son within a family makes the whole family famous all over the world.” Kṛṣṇa took birth in the family of the Yadus, and consequently the Yadu dynasty is famous all over the world.
This verse describes Lord Śiva’s benediction that a renowned son will appear, possessing exalted qualities comparable to Brahmā, and will spread his influence throughout the three worlds.
After the Pracetās performed intense devotion and austerity, Lord Śiva blessed them, foretelling the rise of an extraordinary descendant as a result of their spiritual practice and divine favor.
Cultivating steady devotion, discipline, and purity builds inner potency—so one’s actions naturally uplift others and create lasting, meaningful influence.
