Dhruva’s Benediction from Kuvera and His Ascension to Viṣṇuloka
Dhruvaloka
धन्यं यशस्यमायुष्यं पुण्यं स्वस्त्ययनं महत् । स्वर्ग्यं ध्रौव्यं सौमनस्यं प्रशस्यमघमर्षणम् ॥ ४५ ॥
dhanyaṁ yaśasyam āyuṣyaṁ puṇyaṁ svasty-ayanaṁ mahat svargyaṁ dhrauvyaṁ saumanasyaṁ praśasyam agha-marṣaṇam
Hearing the sacred narration of Dhruva Mahārāja is blessed, bestowing wealth, fame, and increased longevity; it is supremely pious and greatly auspicious. By such hearing one may attain the heavenly worlds or even Dhruvaloka; the devas are pleased, and this glorious account has the power to destroy the reactions of sin.
There are different types of men in this world, not all of them pure devotees. Some are karmīs, desiring to acquire vast wealth. There are also persons who are only after reputation. Some desire to be elevated to the heavenly planets or to go to Dhruvaloka, and others want to please the demigods to get material profits. Herein it is recommended by Maitreya that every one of them can hear the narration about Dhruva Mahārāja and thus get their desired goal. It is recommended that the devotees ( akāma ), the karmīs ( sarva-kāma ) and the jñānīs, who desire to be liberated ( mokṣa-kāma ), should all worship the Supreme Personality of Godhead to acquire their desired goals of life. Similarly, if anyone hears about the activities of the Lord’s devotee, he can achieve the same result. There is no difference between the activities and character of the Supreme Personality of Godhead and those of His pure devotees.
This verse says Dhruva-kathā brings auspiciousness, piety, fame, long life, joy of mind, and it destroys sin; it can also lead to heavenly attainment and grants Dhruva-like steadiness in devotion.
Śukadeva Gosvāmī speaks it to emphasize the spiritual potency of Dhruva Mahārāja’s narration, summarizing its fruits as the chapter concludes.
By setting a fixed daily sādhana (hearing/chanting), keeping a clear goal of pleasing Bhagavān, and remaining steady through setbacks—like Dhruva’s unwavering determination.
