The Future Manus and the Avatāras in Their Manvantaras
तत्र देवा: सुतपसो विरजा अमृतप्रभा: । तेषां विरोचनसुतो बलिरिन्द्रो भविष्यति ॥ १२ ॥
tatra devāḥ sutapaso virajā amṛtaprabhāḥ teṣāṁ virocana-suto balir indro bhaviṣyati
In the eighth manvantara, the demigods will be known as the Sutapās, the Virajas, and the Amṛtaprabhās. Their king, Indra, will be Bali Mahārāja, the son of Virocana.
This verse states that in a future manvantara, Bali—the son of Virocana—will become Indra, the ruler of heaven, among particular groups of demigods.
Śukadeva is describing upcoming manvantaras and their administrative leaders; Bali is identified as the future Indra, showing how roles in the universe change by divine arrangement over time.
Positions and power are temporary and cyclical; lasting spiritual progress comes from devotion and dharma rather than attachment to status.
