Sukta 5
अजो अग्निरजमु ज्योतिराहुरजं जीवता ब्रह्मणे देयमाहुः । अजस्तमांस्यप हन्ति दूरमस्मिंल्लोके श्रद्दधानेन दत्तः
ajó agnír ajám u jyótiḥ ā́hur ajáṃ jī́vatā brā́hmaṇe déyam ā́huḥ | ajás tamā́ṃsy ápa hanti dūráṃ asmíṃl lóke śraddádhānena dattáḥ ||
Unborn is Agni—Unborn, forsooth, they call the Light; Unborn, life-bestowing, they declare a gift to be bestowed upon the Brāhmaṇa. The Unborn drives darkness far away, when here in this world it is given by one of faithful mind.
Rishi: Atharvanic tradition (per Anukramaṇī assignment for AVŚ 9.5).
Devata: Agni as Ajá (Unborn), Jyotis (Light).
Chandas: Triṣṭubh/irregular triṣṭubh (AV mixed metrical practice).
{"primary_rasa":"shanta","secondary_rasa":"vira","emotional_arc":"From doctrinal identification (Aja=Light) to decisive darkness-banishing.","listener_experience":"Quiet certainty that light is fundamental; then an empowered clearing of gloom.","intensity":6}
