Sukta 2

Mantra 1

शत्रुसेनासंमोहनम्। अग्निर्नो दूतः प्रत्येतु विद्वान् प्रतिदहन्नभिशस्तिमरातिम्। स चित्तानि मोहयतु परेषां निर्हस्तांश्च कृणवज्जातवेदाः

Let Agni, our messenger, the Wise, come back toward us, burning back the imprecation and the enmity. Let Jātavedas bewilder the counsels of the others, and make them handless—disarmed.

Mantra 2

अयमग्निरमूमुहद् यानि चित्तानि वो हृदि। वि वो धमत्वोकसः प्र वो धमतु सर्वतः

This Agni hath confounded those thoughts, whatsoever they be, that are within your heart. From your dwelling let him blow them clean away; forth let him blow them from you on every side.

Mantra 3

इन्द्र चित्तानि मोहयन्नर्वाङाकूत्या चर । अग्नेर्वातस्य ध्राज्या तान् विषूचो वि नाशय

O Indra, bewildering (their) minds, go forth with purpose turned hitherward; with the blazing radiance of Agni and of Wind, those crosswise-working foes—scatter them, destroy them utterly.

Mantra 4

व्याऽकूतय एषामिताथो चित्तानि मुह्यत । अथो यदद्यैषां हृदि तदेषां परि निर्जहि

Their purposes—thus!—and moreover their thoughts, let them be confounded; and further, whatsoever to-day is in their heart, that from them drive forth and expel away.

Mantra 5

अमीषां चित्तानि प्रतिमोहयन्ती गृहाणाङ्गान्यप्वे परेहि । अभि प्रेहि निर्दह हृत्सु शोकैर्ग्राह्यामित्रांस्तमसा विध्य शत्रून्

Bewildering the minds of yonder men, O Apvā, go forth away; the members of the households—(assail them). Advance against them; burn them out: with griefs within their hearts seize thou the unfriendly; with darkness pierce the foes.

Mantra 6

असौ या सेना मरुतः परेषामस्मानैत्यभ्योजसा स्पर्धमाना । तां विध्यत तमसापव्रतेन यथैषामन्यो अन्यं न जानात्

Yonder—what host of the others, O Maruts, advanceth upon us, striving against us with might— that smite ye with darkness, with perverted ordinance, so that among them one may not know another.
