One-footed, he strode forth beyond the two-footed; two-footed, from behind he overtook the three-footed. Four-footed, he made the two-footed with directed cry, surveying the ordered line as he stood attendant—of that God. This is the offence against the wrathful One: whoso, thus knowing, injureth a learned Brahman. Up—make him tremble, O Rohita; waste him away: in requital loose forth the nooses upon the Brahma-hurter.

Rishi: Atharvanic tradition (anukramaṇī attribution not provided here)

Devata: A stride-capable sovereign deity (Viṣṇu-like in imagery), with Rohita as punitive agent

Chandas: Mixed/irregular; narrative + refrain
