Sukta 4
प्रियं पशूनां भवति यद् ब्रह्मभ्यः प्रदीयते । अथो वशायास्तत् प्रियं यद् देवत्रा हविः स्यात्
priyáṃ paśūnā́ṃ bhavati yád bráhmabhyaḥ pradīyáte | átho vaśā́yās tát priyáṃ yád devatrā́ havíḥ syā́t ||
Pleasing unto the beasts it is, when it is bestowed upon the Brahmans; and likewise for the Vashā that is her pleasure, when the oblation is godward.
Rishi: Atharvanic/Angirasa tradition (anukramaṇī-dependent).
Devata: Brahmans (as institutional devatā-like recipients) and the gods via ‘devatrā havis’.
Chandas: Anuṣṭubh.
