Sukta 7
ऋक् साम यजुरुच्छिष्ट उद्गीथः प्रस्तुतं स्तुतम्। हिङ्कार उच्छिष्टे स्वरः साम्नो मेडिश्च तन्मयि
ṛ́k sā́ma yájur ucchíṣṭa udgī́thaḥ prástutaṃ stutám | hiṅkārá ucchíṣṭe sváraḥ sāmnó meḍíś ca tán máyi
The Ṛc, the Sāman, the Yajus—within the Ucchiṣṭa are they; the Udgītha, the prelude that is chanted, the chant that is praised. The Hiṅkāra, within the Ucchiṣṭa, the tone of the Sāman, and its central stay—let that be in me.
Rishi: Atharvanic tradition (often treated as Brahmavādins of the AV; specific r̥ṣi attribution varies by anukramaṇī)
Devata: Ucchiṣṭa (personified Residue) as cosmic support of Veda and sacrifice
Chandas: Anuṣṭubh (predominant cadence; mixed/expanded pādas possible in AV style)
