सतोऽर्थस्य विप्रतिपत्तिरसतश्चार्जनमप्रतिभुक्तनाशो मूत्रपुरीषधारणबुभुक्षादिभिश्च व्याधिलाभ इति द्यूतदोषाः ॥ कZ_०८.३.४५ ॥
sato 'rthasya vipratipattir asataś cārjanam apratibhuktanāśo mūtrapurīṣadhāraṇabubhukṣādibhiś ca vyādhilābha iti dyūtadoṣāḥ
These are the defects of gambling: loss or mismanagement of existing wealth; acquisition of wealth by improper means; destruction of what is not even enjoyed; and the gaining of illnesses due to holding in urine and feces, hunger, and similar strain.
Fiscal ruin (loss of capital), criminalized income-seeking (improper acquisition), wasteful dissipation, and health deterioration—each increasing state enforcement and welfare burdens.
They reduce household solvency and labor productivity while increasing disputes and crime, forcing higher administrative and policing effort.
