तयोरेकपुरुषानुग्रहे यो मित्रं मित्रतरं वानुगृह्णाति सोऽतिसंधत्ते ॥ कZ_०७.८.१७ ॥
tayor ekapuruṣānugrahe yo mitraṃ mitrataraṃ vānugṛhṇāti so 'tisaṃdhatte
Between the two, whoever—through favoring a single person—favors an ally or a ‘more intimate’ ally, enters into over-alliance (over-commitment).
An excessive or distorted alliance commitment created by personal favoritism, where state policy is driven by one intermediary rather than institutional interest and calibrated benefit.
Keep alliance support rule-based and interest-aligned; avoid letting one courtier/envoy/client faction determine the scale and direction of commitments.
