viṣadāyakaṃ puruṣaṃ striyaṃ ca puruṣaghnīm apaḥ praveśayed agarbhiṇīṃ garbhiṇīṃ māsāvara-prajātām
A poisoner—whether man, or woman who kills men—should be put into the waters (drowned); a woman is to be drowned if she is not pregnant; if pregnant, after the monthly term/after childbirth (as specified).
It separates liability of the offender from harm to the unborn/infant, preserving demographic and ethical constraints while maintaining deterrence for poisoning.
