dīrghapatha-bhāra-klāntānāṃ ca khādanārthaṃ sneha-prasthaḥ anuvāsanaṃ kuḍubo nasyakarmaṇaḥ yavasasya ardha-bhāraḥ tṛṇasya dviguṇaḥ ṣaḍ-aratni-parikṣepaḥ puñjīla-graho vā
For those exhausted by long travel and heavy loads: for feeding, one prastha of fat/oil; for oil-enema treatment (anuvāsana), one kuḍuba; for nasal treatment, one kuḍuba. Fodder: half a bhāra of yavas (green fodder), and twice that amount of grass. (Storage/collection is to be arranged) either within a six-aratni enclosure or by the puñjīla method (bundled/stacked collection).
Because animal readiness is a state asset: codified treatments reduce attrition on campaigns and standardize what stable staff may requisition.
