For one who departs into renunciation without first making provision for his son and wife, the (first-grade) sāhasa-daṇḍa penalty for violent/forcible wrongdoing applies; likewise for one who causes a woman to renounce/leave household life.
Household abandonment that shifts dependents onto the village/king’s support system and destabilizes the labor and tax base.
Because it can be coercive or disruptive to household order, inheritance, and productive stability; the state discourages forced/engineered separation.
