महापराधेऽपि पुरोहिते सम्रोधनमवस्रावणं वा सिद्धिः युवराजे सम्रोधनं निग्रहो वा गुणवत्यन्यस्मिन् सति पुत्रे ॥ कZ_०९.३.१४ ॥
mahāparādhe ’pi purohite samrodhanam avasrāvaṇaṃ vā siddhiḥ; yuvarāje samrodhanaṃ nigraho vā guṇavati anyasmin sati putre
Even if the royal chaplain commits a grave offence, the proper course is confinement or removal from office. In the case of the crown prince, confinement or punishment is proper—provided there exists another son of merit.
Because disciplining the heir can destabilize succession; punishment is safer when continuity is ensured by a competent alternative.
