Desiring to create, the womb (source) of the universe, resorting to the guṇa of tamas, wished to make the subtle elements (tanmātras) into gross elements. Having taken the limited (i.e., determinate) elements at creation, he divided each one into two, and again made them into four; then, combining them fivefold with the second portions of one another, he created, by means of the quintuplicated elements, innumerable crores of cosmic eggs (brahmāṇḍas) and the gross bodies situated in the spheres appropriate to each egg.

Sṛṣṭi (cosmogenesis) through Māyā/guṇas; pañcīkaraṇa (quintuplication of elements)Mahavakya: Indirect: prepares the adhikāra for mahāvākya inquiry by explaining nāma-rūpa (name-form) superimposition upon Brahman; aligns with the Advaitic reading of 'prajñānaṃ brahma' as the substratum of creation.AtharvaChandas: Prose
