अग्निरुवाच ममातृप्तस्य लोकेश तावद्द्वादशवत्सरान् । क्षुत्पीडासंवृते मर्त्ये न प्राप्तं कुत्रचिद्धविः
agniruvāca mamātṛptasya lokeśa tāvaddvādaśavatsarān | kṣutpīḍāsaṃvṛte martye na prāptaṃ kutraciddhaviḥ
Agni sprach: „O Herr der Welten, ich, der ungesättigt blieb, fand zwölf Jahre lang in der von Hunger bedrängten und überwältigten Menschenwelt nirgends auch nur eine Opfergabe (havis), die mich erreichte.“
