अथ तां विरतां ज्ञात्वा सोऽन्यचित्तां प्रियां नृपः । यत्नेन रक्षयामास विश्वासं नैव गच्छति

atha tāṃ viratāṃ jñātvā so'nyacittāṃ priyāṃ nṛpaḥ | yatnena rakṣayāmāsa viśvāsaṃ naiva gacchati

Dann, als der König erkannte, dass sie sich von ihm abgewandt hatte und der Sinn seiner Geliebten anderswo weilte, bewachte er sie mit großer Sorgfalt—doch wahres Vertrauen kehrte nicht zurück.
