Skanda Purana — Nagara Khanda, Shloka 5

यथा मया द्विजत्वं हि स्वयमेवार्जितं बलात् । तथा सृष्टिं करिष्यामि स्वकीयां नात्र संशयः

yathā mayā dvijatvaṃ hi svayamevārjitaṃ balāt | tathā sṛṣṭiṃ kariṣyāmi svakīyāṃ nātra saṃśayaḥ

So wie ich selbst durch die bloße Kraft der Askese (tapas) den Stand des „Zweimalgeborenen“ erlangte, so werde ich eine eigene Schöpfung hervorbringen—daran besteht kein Zweifel.
