Type: kshetra
Scene: Hariścandra in ascetic posture near a simple shrine; Umā and Maheśvara installed and worshipped; attendants distribute gifts—cows, gold, cloth, grain—to brāhmaṇas.
A tīrtha becomes spiritually radiant through tapas, deity स्थापना (installation), and dāna offered in dharma to worthy recipients.
The sanctity centers on Hariścandra’s āśrama-region where Umā-Maheśvara were installed; it is part of the Tīrthamāhātmya sacred circuit described in this adhyāya.
Worship through installation of Umā-Maheśvara and the performance of dāna (charitable gifting) to brāhmaṇas.
