Scene: Mārkaṇḍeya, serene and authoritative, instructs a great sage not to depart the earth; behind them a symbolic map-like vista of oceans and dvīpas, suggesting the saptadvīpa cosmos.
In moments of discouragement, guidance from a realized sage redirects effort toward the precise, grace-filled remedy.
The site is about to be disclosed; this verse is the preface to naming Hāṭakeśvara-kṣetra.
A practical injunction: do not renounce the world in despair; instead, follow the sage’s forthcoming tīrtha-instruction.
