Indra
Listener: Dadhīci
Scene: Indra explains the necessity: the sage’s bones will accomplish a supreme task; devas stand behind, hopeful and reverent, as if awaiting the turning of fate.
Personal sacrifice becomes sacred when it serves loka-saṅgraha—upholding cosmic order and protecting the righteous.
The tīrtha framework contextualizes the episode, but this verse focuses on the devas’ mission rather than a named pilgrimage spot.
No specific rite is prescribed here; the verse establishes the intent behind the requested dāna.
