Skanda Purana — Nagara Khanda, Shloka 104

कुलशीलविहीनानामन्येषामपि पाप्मनाम् । मत्वा कलियुगं घोरं परदारसुरंजितम् । तत्र शुद्धिस्ततः सर्वैः कृता विप्रैश्च वाचिका

kulaśīlavihīnānāmanyeṣāmapi pāpmanām | matvā kaliyugaṃ ghoraṃ paradārasuraṃjitam | tatra śuddhistataḥ sarvaiḥ kṛtā vipraiśca vācikā

In Anbetracht des schrecklichen Kali-Zeitalters – erfüllt vom ‚Dämon‘ des Ehebruchs – und angesichts der Menschen ohne Familiendisziplin und gutes Betragen sowie anderer Sünder, wurde dort von allen eine Reinigung etabliert, sowie eine verbale Reinigung durch die Brāhmaṇas.
